Prayer request from Sabrina Mahtani

Dear All

We praise God for the successful screenings we have had so far with the
first human rights film festival in Sierra Leone. We’ve had huge crowds of
students, youth groups, journalists and sex workers who have attended the
screenings.

Today we are taking the festival to Kroo Bay, one of the largest slum areas
in Freetown and one of the most deprived communities. Please pray for
safety and for everything to go smoothly as well as many people being made
more aware of human rights issues and where to seek redress.

Thanks

Sabrina

1). I am looking for two local people who will eventually take over the work I am doing in Swaziland. That we may find the right people with the right heart for the work.
2). Pray for our farmers we are supporting that they continue finding strength to carry on with their businesses even through times of poor business performance.
3). We are having a meeting next week with the department of poultry in the ministry of agriculture to discuss our business model and how they can be involved in the training of the farmers. For the success of the meeting and the training plans thereof.

Prayer request from Lindsey Pettit

My prayer requests:

1) For the Restorative Justice course with juvenile offenders in Pollsmoor Prison in Cape Town – thank God for His choice of participants on the course. Please pray for good relationships to be built. That trust and integrity can be paramount and relationships healed and restored.

2) For wisdom and inspiration as I mentor another worker to run the course . That we will be able to work well together and see rapid results in the lives of the young men, their families and ultimately their communities.

3) For the long standing court case regarding a young man we work with. Things are beginning to get moving in the courts please pray for justice to be done.

4) Personal prayer for my health – I had a gastro infection and ended up in hospital on a drip last week. I feel better now but have little energy – and there is much to do…It is highly frustrating feeling so weary but I am having to trust God and learn to rest in HIm – I just know I need to learn that more !!

5) For my wonderful family as it straddles 2 continents – for God grace and favour and HIs wonderful presence to be more evident in our lives.

Prayer request from Gracia Violeta Ross Quiroga

Please pray for Gracia:

- She is giving the finishing touches on a research report on Women, Violence and HIV in Bolivia. Please pray for timing, sharp analysis and logic thinking.

“Please also pray for my understanding of what does the Lord wants me to do in 2012. I finished my roles in the Bolivian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (REDBOL) and this means I have much more free time. I am feeling I might focus on work on violence against women, but I want to hear the guidance of God. Or maybe this is a time for rest and a time to concentrate on my personal life”.

Please lets pray for God’s wisdom to be with Gracia.

9 Feb 2012 by David Clemy

Prayer request from David Clemy

David works with mentally disabled children and local communities. This work is often a spiritual battle as many children are seen as cursed by their families and communities and are therefore denied every right and opportunity. David facilitates community transformation, by helping to teach people how to change, where to start and how to use their own resources.

The work involves helping communities to grow spiritually and to accept children with disabilities as well as to give support and care to children with the HIV/AIDS.

The aim is to help families and communities to:
1) Accept children challenged with disabilities and to enable these kids to reach their full potential.
2) Support the community, church and families to show love and support to vulnerable children.
3) Support children orphaned due to HIV/AIDS.
4) Help the church to act practically in response to their preaching.
5) Empower women to also make full use of their own resources and those of their household.

Please pray for this work:
- For the government to get involved and see disabled people as a priority.
- Please pray for local communities and families, that God will change their attitudes towards disabled children and children with HIV/AIDS, so they become accepted as valuable human beings.
- For wisdom and help as David and his team deal with the root causes of rejection, such as poverty, family and spiritual issues.
- Please pray for passion, energy, focus and strength to David and his team so they can see this vision through.
- Also, please pray for the local people to see their own resources and help to change themselves as well as their communities.

Finally, please pray for the team – they need more people to be trained up to do this work in local communities and for good health and spiritual protection.

Here’s a wonderful quote from David “My dream is for God to help fulfill my passion. My passion is to see people changed! The best partner is the local church. The church can lead the fight against discrimination “.

So, let’s join in prayer for David and his team.
